Preston
Details of new arrivals are given under the `Welcome' and
`Transfers' section, but since the last issue of White and
Red we have lost the services of Mrs P. Gibson, Mrs C. Watson,
Mrs S. Gardner and Miss L. Gardner, all of whom had been
with us for some considerable time, and also of Mr P. Childs
who has been promoted from Blackpool to Edinburgh.
We congratulate Keith Pringle on being awarded the Institute
prize at Newcastle, and also on his foresight in arranging
his transfer to Preston in time to ensure that his son and
heir was born a Lancastrian.
On the sporting side our table tennis team of Ray Dee, Barry
Cooper, Keith Pringle and Paul Gardner successfully entered
the Institute league and eventually came out clear winners
of their division. Our girls did not let us down either,
Miss Vivienne Fryer represented us at the `Miss Insurance
1971' competition and was eliminated only after reaching
the final six. A very creditable `first appearance'.

The past few months have had their quieter moments but three
members of our staff have forgone their independence for
marriage. Miss Christine Primmer was first in the marriage
