Appointment of
Mr H. W. Greenwood

THE HOUR GLASS

Can it be easier then for you to leave a smile unsmiled
Or kinder word unsaid than go a pace
Beyond the shortest way to add
A mite to the common good?
How often do we blame
The lack of time or
Workday's chores as
Reasons in themselves
Why we've
let the
Sand
Of Gold
'Portunities
Slip away and
Leave to others these
The valued things we ought
To do ourselves; and yet on
Evening quiet in summer garden weeding
(Or just prowling around) we realise
That this poor world's a sadder place
For want of the good we've not committed
