Mr Clifton
who has been a non-executive Director of the Company since June 1967, was, until his retirement, an executive director of Gallaher Ltd., with particular responsibilities for personnel. He was one of the founder directors of John Tyzack & Partners, the management consultants well known for their specialisation in the selection of senior executives, and is now Chairman of that Company.

Mr Bower
Aged 36 years, was appointed to the Board in May 1970. He was a partner in Binder, Hamlyn & Co., Chartered Accountants, from 1962 to 1969 and has subsequently practised as a financial consultant. He has for some years specialised in advice on financial and corporate strategy.
