On the gloomier side our seven-a-side football team, under the captaincy of Stephen Walkden, though not losing a single match were unfortunate to lose on goal average.
It has been a suspiciously bumper year for births. Mrs Margaret Ewell left us to have a baby girl; Mrs Eileen Foley also left us for a girl though we were compensated for this loss when her husband Terry returned to us in August after a three-year sojourn in Manchester. Yet another girl was born to the wife of Noel Conway and it was left to Tony Brown's wife to promote the `fairer' sex by having a boy. Mrs Eileen Riding has just left us to have

her baby and we await the result with baited breath.
We say goodbye to Norman Clough who has deserted us for the southern reaches of Reading after 17 years at Bolton. Tony Brown we congratulate on his promotion as Fire Superintendent to Glasgow though we were all sorry to see him go. Mrs Barbara Singleton has emigrated to South Africa and Miss Christine McLoughlin has left us for greener pastures, both having been with us for five years.
Congratulations are in order for Noel Conway who was awarded the local Institute prize for best completion of the Associateship, and to Ray Jones on completing Part A.

Bradford
On 4th September, 1971 our telephonist Erika Kowalew was married to Paul Murgatroyd at St. Cuthberts Church, Bradford and we extend our warm wishes for many happy years together. Erika was presented with a sheepskin rug, a blanket and towels from the staff and a set of pans from the girls in the typing room.
The football team are still keen and happy to report a more successful season than previously. A friendly game with any Branch would be welcomed.
We take this opportunity of welcoming Dave Spivey back to the fold. Our globe-trotting pensioners are currently back home once again,

Geoff Wilson from New Zealand where he lived for six months and Mick Tipping from a further ten months caravan tour of Australia. Both look extremely fit and well and we understand that both are currently planning future expeditions. Our other pensioner Miss Horsfield looks distinctly younger after almost twelve months `rest'.
We are happy to record that Harry Wilkinson is back again and feeling much better after the heart attack he suffered earlier in the year - keep it up.

Bristol
The sound of the dreaded `PingPong' a common species of `Sport' can be heard coming from the `Black Hole of Calcutta' (a room with windows but surrounded by skyscrapers). A Table Tennis table was installed recently in the Lunch Room and has been a welcome innovation, providing a positive alternative to `window' shopping between 1.0 and 2.0 p.m. We are reliably informed by `Pinger' Poulton and `Ponger' Nunn (or is it `Ponger' Poulton and `Pinger' Nunn?) that the table is excellent but there is some restriction on the forehand smack because the walls have been built too close together!
It is so long ago since Bristol Office went into print that it is difficult to remember what has been said previously and what needs to be said. With apologies therefore to those we forget, we have during the past few
