This was played on 28th May at Ashton Hall Course at Lancaster, and attracted an entry of fifteen, from Head Office, Manchester, Liverpool, Carlisle and Lancaster. The competition was on a 36 hole best net score basis for a cup, given by Provincial, for the winner; and another attractive trophy, anonymously given, for the runner up.
After a dull start, the weather turned hot and sunny during the morning and presented ideal golf conditions for the whole day. The Course is set in beautiful parkland, and although long (6,431 yards, par 71) is very fair with wide fairways.

As usual though, the `coarse' golfers among us preferred to take the difficult way round via bunkers, trees, streams and rough. After the morning round an excellent net 68 by D. Warren playing off 20, led the field; followed by G. Wilson (t5) with a net 74.

The afternoon rounds produced good golf by many players but the combined scores confirmed the morning results, with a win for D. Warren of Lancaster.
